The Consumer Goods division of Intertek provides testing, inspection, training and consultancy services to retailers, brands and manufacturers of consumer products including soft goods such as apparel, fashion, accessories, footwear, home textiles and hard goods such as toys, sport equipment, furniture, homewares and more.

About the role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager on a permanent basis with the position to be based either in our Sydney or Melbourne offices.

Working closely with our global offices and Australasian management team, your key areas of focus will include, but not be limited to:

  • Strengthening relationships with new and existing clients
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators and testing standard bodies/ associations in Australia and New Zealand
  • Pipeline opportunities to facilitate growth and secure new business
  • Aligning client expectations with technical and commercial realities
  • Preparation of quotes and tenders with the assistance of other staff as required (Includes the maintenance of quotes records / archives / quotes summary)
  • Set up of quality assurance programs on behalf of clients for Offshore office to execute
  • Liaise between clients and production team regarding new work, new clients, job tracking, technical issues, priorities, logistics to make sure satisfactory delivery to clients’ expectations
  • Attend or organise tradeshows and conferences as arranged with Management Team.

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in the consumer goods industry with knowledge about testing
  • Proven business development experience and the ability to drive revenue
  • Commercial astuteness and technical expertise
  • An in depth working knowledge of the retail and consumer goods sector
  • Well-established relationships within the above sectors
  • Have strong written/ verbal communication skills and an ability to juggle priorities, ideally with proficiency in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin to facilitate communication with the laboratories and clients in China).
