Our client, a global law firm, is rapidly expanding within the Australian market and has four offices across Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Melbourne. They are seeking a Recruitment Specialist to support their Australian offices.  This role offers an exciting opportunity for candidates to work in the professional services industry with a leading global law firm whilst being supported by the local management team.

Role Summary

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, Australia, you will assume responsibility for all aspects of lawyer, support staff and temporary hiring. This role will also assume responsibility for the Graduate, Summer Clerk and Paralegal programs across the Sydney, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne offices. The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of five years’ experience in recruitment with two years working within a legal recruiting environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with leadership, including Practice Group Leaders, Office Partners-in-Charge and support service managers to identify hiring needs and advance recruiting objectives in a strategic manner.
  • Manage and coordinate the Graduate, Summer Clerk and Paralegal programs across the Australian offices.
  • Manage end to end recruitment of lawyer and support staff hires including sourcing, screening, coordinating interview times, attending interviews, completing reference checks and writing reference reports.
  • Work with and maintain relationships with preferred search firms.
  • Prepare and maintain an annual recruiting budget.
  • Develop strategies to promote the profile of the firm amongst leading talent in the legal industry.
  • Attend and get involved with Firm activities recognising the importance of supporting Firm and HR initiatives and the opportunity these events offer towards building rapport with Partners, lawyers and staff.
  • Assist with general HR projects and administration as required.
  • Take a lead role on the use of the online recruitment systems and training other team members where required.
  • Provide leadership and support to the HR Assistant.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Client-service oriented, able to work with lawyers and staff at all levels and establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm.
  • Highly motivated, creative, flexible and results-oriented with the ability to prioritise appropriately.
  • Has the ability to accurately assess recruitment needs and select the most qualified candidates based on that assessment.
  • Able to exercise sound judgment and problem solving skills
  • Ability to prioritise and manage projects, work in high-pressure situations, and meet deadlines amongst a fast-paced environment.
Educational/Experience Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in recruiting with at least 2 years working in a legal recruiting environment
