JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Chief Sub Editor, you will be responsible for maintaining the standard of excellence for accurate content in the magazine and across all platforms consistent with the brand's profile, voice and style requirements.
In addition, workflows need to be managed so that
production deadlines are met.
You will have impeccable subediting skills – ensuring copy is clear, concise and factually correct.
You will be comfortable turning your skills to subbing copy for multiple channels, from long-form features for print through to EDMs, website copy and social media.
The role will include:
Fact-checking, subediting copy and ensuring content adheres to house style and is best practice for the channel (print, digital, social)
Writing heads, intros and captions that are consistently appropriate and creative
Meeting deadlines and assisting to manage the production process
Checking proofs and inputting editors' changes as necessary
Creating and/or subbing online content for multiple channels where appropriate
Developing and maintaining productive internal and external relationships and networks that facilitate the achievement of work-related objectives
Consideration of multimedia, digital and social media in all content-related interactions
You:
Will have outstanding attention to detail
Will have experience writing inspiring and engaging headings and intros
Can spot a typo, grammatical error, stacked word or widow instantly
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
Are a team player who remains calm under pressure
Are data and outcomes-driven and put customers (Jetstar, consumers and advertisers) at the centre of everything you do
Your Credentials:
More than five years' experience as a subeditor, ideally in a senior role
Excellent subediting and English language skills
Experience working across print, digital and social channels is desirable
Ability to work with 100 per cent accuracy
Excellent communication skills
Ability to juggle multiple tasks and work efficiently under pressure
Ability to work well as part of a team, as well as independently
