Our Business:

Pacific Aluminium (PacAl) was established in 2011 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto, with five primary assets in Australia and New Zealand. Our smelting operations include Boyne Smelters in Gladstone, Queensland, Bell Bay Aluminium near Launceston, Tasmania and New Zealand Aluminium Smelters in Invercargill, New Zealand. In addition, Pacific Aluminium is the majority shareholder of Tomago Aluminium, a non-managed site in the Hunter Region in New South Wales and Gladstone Power Station, a non-managed site in Gladstone.

With a total workforce of close to 4,000 employees and contractors, Pacific Aluminium produces in excess of 1.7 million tonnes of aluminium, primarily for export to Asia where our metal is fabricated into essential products for the transport, construction, packaging and electrical industries. 

Production Systems Developer Opportunity:

We are currently recruiting for a Production Systems Developer position. The role will be located at our Brisbane Head Office reporting to the Compass Next Gen Project Manager. The Production Systems Developer role is responsible for developing and supporting ‘In House’ and third party Production Systems deployed within Pacific Aluminium to meet our business objectives. This role will support business activities such as; safety, environmental management, process control, manufacturing execution systems, equipment usage, maintenance and other business improvement activities. This role will be a central point of contact for key users at each site, working in collaboration to ensure that our Production Systems are delivering maximum value.

 Who we are looking for:

  • An excellent understanding of all aspects of information systems development lifecycle
  • Demonstrated experience with the design and development of UI encompassing a sound understanding of UX design principles as it applies to software applications
  • A good understanding of UI delivery in a mobile environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using improvement methodologies such as LEAN, 6 Sigma or Agile to drive waste out of the Production System processes
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to resolve problems by identifying and selecting solutions through the application of technical expertise and drawing from the technical expertise of functional peers
  • Ability to deal with complexity/ambiguity and apply a logical and structured decision making approach
  • Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within a similar industry, with 4+ years’ experience or demonstrated capability to achieve a positive outcome in a short period of time
  • An energetic, positive and enthusiastic approach with a strong, demonstrated commitment to health and safety
