Some background info:
This is a freshly vacant position due to a promotion within an iconic and adored Australian Company. They’re a medium sized enterprise (approx. 1000 seats) and are undergoing a large transformation, moving a host of their cored systems into Azure - currently 60% of their services are cloud based, on the way to 90%. They have adopted Agile methodology, CI/CD and have a focus on automation. The environment is very modern, the people are capable (and likeable) and the roles have a high level of autonomy. Being a medium sized company, you’ll have a broad technical scope and high impact.
The role:
We’re not after an old-school engineer, we want someone who has a passion for cloud-based technologies, embraces automation and has very strong communications skills (someone who enjoys talking to the business and is an ambassador for IT)
As part of an internal infrastructure team of 12 people, the role is broad with a focus on cloud technologies, continuous improvement and projects.
The role includes:
- System design, configuration and support.
- Keeping abreast of cloud technologies trends and making recommendations on new technologies to the business
- Project leadership including project management, project plan development and management, technical documentation, risk management, stakeholder liaison, etc
- Commercial and technical management of vendors
Upcoming projects you’ll assist with include:
- A large Data Centre move
- Playing a key role in moving their online platform to Azure PaaS
- Playing a key role in moving 90% of services in Azure/AWS.
- An Atlassian to cloud project
- Mini projects enhancing existing infrastructure, most likely moving into Azure.
- Citrix related projects
You:
- A modern engineering mindset – Automation and a passion for cloud technologies
- Broad technical experience to design level in Microsoft server & cloud technologies
- Public cloud experience, Azure preferred
- ITIL environment experience
- Security awareness
- The ability to manage projects and vendors as well as talk with internal execs.
