MGGS is seeking applicants for a diverse role, ideal for those looking to grow their career. This opportunity would suit applicants with a minimum of 3-5 years of SQL Database reporting and management experience in an education or commercial domain.

The SQL Database Manager is responsible for providing an efficient, accurate and responsive database. This includes taking ownership of our Synergetic database, to maintain and to improve the way in which we utilise our data, and to provide input on our overall data management policy. The role will also include the development, implementation and ongoing maintenance of other key systems that support the MGGS strategic initiatives, in accordance with School privacy protocols.

As this is both a people and systems focused role, the applicant must have excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus with a welcoming personality and the ability to adapt to a range of situations in a calm, positive manner. They must be passionate about the ever-changing digital landscape, and be willing to recommend and support relevant enhancements within the school.

Key Requirements:

We seek a technically proficient, experienced problem solver and an energetic professional. Ideal candidate will have the following skills and local experience:

  • 3-5+ years demonstrated experience developing and administering Microsoft SQL Server (or similar – e.g. MySQL)
  • MCSA certification in SQL Server 2012/2014
  • Advanced working knowledge of major reporting packages (Crystal Reports, SQL Server Reporting Services [SSRS])
  • SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
  • Working knowledge of Business Intelligence platforms – e.g. Microsoft PowerBI or similar
  • Demonstrated ability to design technical solutions to business problems
  • Technical agility, with an ambition to continually expand upon technical knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Ability to present and lead technical and end-user training sessions
  • High attention to detail and technical excellence
  • Strong organisational skills – specifically the ability to manage and prioritise multiple project portfolios
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
