Job Description

 

We are currently seeking a Systems Administrator to maintain smooth operation of Leidos data centre and workshop environment for our customers and internal projects. The facility provides a cloud like environment with highly available systems to ensure that creative solution designs are achieved. This role is critical to being able to achieve this level of service.

Perform the following functions as individual assignments or as part of a team:

  • Ensure the provision of an effective IT Support service including network management, installation of system wide software, management of mass storage space, tuning of system performance, oversee installation and backup recovery, and make recommendations for purchases of hardware and software.
  • Provide Subject matter expert (SME) IT Support advice on projects.
  • Identify and resolve any customer identified issues in a consultative manner.
  • Interact with users and evaluate vendor products.
  • Investigate and make recommendations on the purchase of hardware and software.
  • Manage the installation of new software and provide backup recovery.
  • Represent the organisation in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

Coupled with your education and practical experience, you will demonstrate a pro-active approach with the ability to understand the business, identify issues and develop relationships to achieve the company’s objectives.  The following type of experience is also sought commensurate to the amount of work experience:  

  • Experience working in a senior role or team within an engineering or project environment (preferably in a similar industry)
  • Exposure to the principles and operations of project contract management Substantial experience with the relevant technologies and domains is essential
  • Substantial knowledge and application of a broad range of skills including software, systems and technical architecture, software and hardware engineering, interface protocols

Experience with the following technologies and systems

  • Microsoft and Linux Operating Systems 
  • Multi-tenant and hosting systems 
  • Design , deploy and management of virtualised environments (hardware, network, application, storage layers)
  • Citrix, VMWare, KVM and public cloud providers 
  • Cisco, Arista, Juniper and Fortinet products across networking and security devices 
  • Commissioning of physical infrastructure including CISCO UCS server platforms, network and associated storage equipment. 
  • CISCO UCS configuration management
  • NetApp Storage deployment and configuration management
  • Automation and Orchestration tools experience for example: Puppet, Ansible etc.
  • PowerShell or similar scripting experience 
  • Experience with infrastructure monitoring toolsets e.g.: SCOM, Nagios, Tivoli etc.
