We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the ACM Technology Team, specifically focused on full stack (end to end) development of our NewsNow Editorial Platform and 167 websites.
We are currently a team of 25 talented individuals, and we're looking to add more talent into our collective. Your technological distinctiveness will be added to our own. Specifically, this means the production, maintenance and product development for the ACM Technology team in Australian Community Media (ACM).
This position will work with any other stakeholders required to complete development and product projects on these websites.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Minimise development life cycle durations to improve product "time-to-market"
- Minimise solution complexity
- Minimise the cost of maintenance associated with developed solutions
- Deliver quality code
- Assist with project planning activities
- Participate in the scoping, estimating and refining the Product requirements to produce high and low-level requirements documents and complete use cases as required
- Identify appropriate technical solutions that meet the objectives of the business
- Provide solid input into the project planning and risk identification process, estimate effort and delivery timeframes and schedule work activities across multiple projects within the team such that they meet agreed milestones, which represent the priorities of the business
- Provide regular project progress reports to the Team lead and business stakeholders
- Support the team members to enable them to meet their objectives (eg resolving issues holding them up)
- Ensure all team members are cross-trained, enabling them to work across all systems supported by the team
- Ensure the team has the right processes in place to ensure productivity and quality goals are met
- Ensure that the systems are supplied to the infrastructure/operations team in accordance with operational handover procedures
- Ensure that the team provides effective support to infrastructure/operations team and to business stakeholders.
Technical Skills
- 5+ Years development experience with the ability to deliver quality code
- Developing large, scalable web applications
- Skills / experience in Django/ Python
- Git / GitHub
- XML, JSON and REST services
- Javascript / Html / CSS
- NodeJs / GraphQL
- Javascript frameworks like Angular, ReactJS would be advantageous
