The Opportunity 
At SEEK, the Search Team applies deep search domain expertise to improve the effectiveness of SEEK’s products. The team has members from a variety of backgrounds; data science, search architecture, software engineering and data engineering.

As one of the senior technical people in the team your purpose is to ensure creative solutions are delivered to assist users of SEEK platforms and facilitating solid decision-making among your peers. You'll play a key role in lifting the capability of the team around you.

Key Responsibilities 
You will have responsibility for operations of current search solutions and delivery, from validating concepts through to supporting production solutions.

• Strive to technical excellence; you'll help facilitate the healthy tension between the desire for immediate delivery and the long term viability of the code base.
• Stay ahead of technical trends and bring in new ideas from industry leading practices
• Actively participate in communities of practice at SEEK and beyond; pursuing a deep understanding of software delivery and inspire such pursuit in others.

What we are looking for 
You'll be able to demonstrate capability as a seasoned and knowledgeable Software Engineer who has played a leadership role in delivering a solution. You'll have a solid grasp of Solutions Design, Domain Driven Design, Design Patterns, and Data Modelling. You are quick to pick up new technologies, languages and platforms.

• Demonstrated commercial experience in supporting high volume web applications in a production environment and be comfortable with cloud infrastructure
• Lead in writing testable, effective and communicable code as well as Agile development methodologies and practices such as Continuous Integration, TDD, BDD, etc.
• Collaboration abilities, openness and flexibility to different viewpoints in order to deliver solutions quickly and efficiently, Collaborating within the team and across other teams.
• Strategic ability to align business needs with technology
• Leadership skills with demonstrated experience to coach and mentor others

It would also be great if you had

• Experience with AWS technologies
• Competently codes in more than one language
• Experience with search engine technologies (e.g. Elastic Search, Solr, etc)
• Adept at spotting and nurturing talent.
• Experience with functional programming
