Job Overview:

The Systems Analyst is responsible for the design and configuration of functional solutions and for operational support of ICT solutions. They are also responsible for designing and optimising enterprise-wide deployment of ICT technology solutions. Systems Analysts require an understanding of ICT product offerings and their interoperability with other components as well as a high level understanding of interface technology. The Systems Analyst works under the limited direction of senior staff. They exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision making is dependent on judgement, skills and knowledge. The Systems Analyst manages and organises their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

 

 

Key Technical Competencies:(Duties may include some or all of the following)

  • Perform high-level analysis and evaluation of application errors, incidents, problems and work with technical resources to formulate solutions for production fixes
  • Focus on data structure and workflow of ICT applications to support data analysis and reporting
  • Support the configuration of ICT applications to meet business requirements
  • Support the deployment of technology solutions
  • Resolve or escalate issues as required and suggest alternate approaches
  • Provide production support appropriate to application / process
  • Participate in system overview and workshops to gain an understanding of the functional changes or new functionality during transition of new applications into production
  • Conduct technical/application assessments for bug fixes and consider feasibility, effort and risks
  • Technical documentation, including designs, task cards, processes and procedures for review by senior staff

 

Key duties/tasks:

  • Provide systems analysis, maintenance and support within the assigned area of responsibility
  • Undertake a range of analysis, design, software development, testing and maintenance activities under guidance from senior staff
  • Investigation and replication of complex production incidents
  • Under limited guidance adhere to high quality standards in software development
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective and timely resolution of production issues
  • Provide advice and support to colleagues with regard to technical aspects of software support, maintenance and development
  • Escalate issues as identified and suggest alternative approaches
  • Undertake allocated tasks, incidents and problems, BAU support and transition of new applications into production
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant ICT policies and processes and share knowledge with other team members
  • Demonstrated experience operating in large scale ICT environments
