We are looking for a motivated Front-End Wordpress Developer who is passionate about combining the art of design with the art of programming.

Responsibilities will include producing, modifying, and maintaining Wordpress sites as well as custom php web solutions using front-end technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.

You will work with members of the Digital team and bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

This is a great opportunity for a fresh Front End Developer to get involved in some fantastic projects inside a forward looking and progressive publishing house.

Essential selection criteria:

• Experience building complex, scalable, and high-performance Wordpress web solutions
• Understands the need for continuous learning in the development space and can learn quickly
• Ability to identify real-world user problems and build technology solutions to solve them
• Proficient in every area of the project life-cycle (from new development to content redesign)
• Experience using industry standard tools to manage the development workflow
• Communication skills to work successfully in a team environment
• Content Management System (CMS) framework experience with WordPress, including but not limited to plug-in customisation.

• Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5, CSS3
• Basic understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS
• Proficient understanding of client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery
• Basic knowledge of image authoring tools, to be able to crop, resize, or perform small adjustments on an image. (Familiarity with the Adobe suite is a plus).
• Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as Git, SVN
• Good understanding of SEO principles and ensuring that application will adhere to them
• Comprehensive understanding of user interface technologies and user centred design concepts
• Experience integrating web analytics packages
• Understanding of how to create, update, retrieve, or delete data records via SQL
• Knowledge of HTML e-mail best practices
• Understanding of mobile web development and/or responsive web

• An extensive understanding of how to implement accessible, usable and innovative graphical user interfaces for dynamic, database-driven web experiences
