About the Role

As a member of the integration and data migration team, you will be responsible for the analysis, design and implementation of the data integration activities between EMR and non-EMR systems.

You will work closely with the EMR Integration Architect, business users and other members of the integration and data migration team to ensure that all integration activities of the EMR project are understood, planned, communicated and executed on time. You will establish and maintain close working relationships with the business owners of clinical application systems, the EMR vendor, the EMR application team, vendors of in-scope third party application systems and IT department across the health service to deliver an integration solution that will meet the needs of the end users, required service levels and efficient system operation and support.

This role is primarily responsible for the management and development of the integration systems from both source and to destination systems. Analysis of the source and destination systems and a view from a compliance perspective is pivotal to this position.  You will ensure that rigorous documentation is created and maintained throughout the implementation of the EMR.

Duties

Your key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Development of HL7 interfaces with adherence to standards and procedures
  • Analyse, design, build and implement interfaces including integration of internal applications and external linkages with other providers or organisations
  • Ability to review and understand Java code with an understanding of Object Oriented Analysis and Design
  • Ensure that the integration requirements that are necessary to keep the project on track are understood, clearly communicated and executed on time
  • Develop and critically review project documentation including specifications, project plans, status reports, change requests, work plans, risks and issues logs
  • Coordinate integration and data migration considerations with the EMR Integration and Conversion Manager to monitor progress, key milestones and deliverables in order to deliver the project according to plan
  • Work closely with the Integration Architect for design and development of interfaces
  • Work closely with members of the integration and data migration teams for successful delivery of the integration and data migration component of the EMR project
  • Establish and maintain close communication with EMR vendor integration staff
  • Pro-actively build and maintain a good working relationship with the Western Health IT Team to align integration solutions with local requirements and IT strategic directions where possible

Essential Criteria

The essential skills and experience sought include, but are not limited to;

  • Expert knowledge of messaging structures including HL7 and other communication protocols
  • Demonstrated skills in designing and implementing interfaces within the healthcare environment
  • Broad experience and knowledge of Patient Administration Systems and other common health care applications
  • Experience in development within an integration engine

The desirable skills and experience sought include, but are not limited to;

  • Demonstrated integration experience with other EMR systems and computerised clinical applications
  • Experience in integration engine technology including JCAPS.  Experience with Rhapsody is desirable
  • Demonstrated integration experience with Cerner EMR modules/components including but not limited to, PowerChart, CCL, Clinical Documentation, MPages
