Kmart is looking to showcase our product offering on the world stage. To do this we are building a new business in Kmart and for this we need to build a platform from scratch to support it and take Kmart into the future on a global scale. As such we are looking to build 2 small technical teams to build the platform. To lead one of the teams, Kmart is currently looking to hire a Technical Lead who will have overall accountability for the platform from a technical perspective as well as managing a team of up to 5 engineers – the people administration/management side of the role, although a critical part of the position, will only form a small part of this exciting opportunity.
As the hands-on Technical Lead of this greenfield environment, you will be responsible for assessing and analysing the technologies to be used to determine fit for purpose and presenting your findings to the team. You will also play a key role in selecting your high performing team.
As this is a brand new platform, key technical decisions need to be made on a fortnightly basis, so you need to be both brave and pragmatic in your approach. As this is a learning envniroment, no idea is a bad idea as long as the business objective(s) are front of mind.
Everything you design and build will be in AWS, microservice based and mostly NodeJS but you understand that other languages and frameworks will be more suitable for some situations. We are event driven and you’ll find a need for NoSQL, relational and graph based persistence. Underpinning the services, you will build a first class data analytics capability. We release as we go and expect that we will have iterated toward a platform that provides significant value within 12 months.
