Our API team owns the enterprise API Gateway platform that provides a fundamental service to Suncorp’s core strategy. Their role is to develop and maintain an enterprise API Gateway, ensuring a resilient, secure and scalable service, and to provide an overall amazing customer experience.

As an API Gateway Policy Developer your purpose is to apply your knowledge and experience of identity, authentication, API gateway policy and software development, applying current best practices and industry standards to grow the team and the platform.

You will focus on:

• API and API Gateway policy design and development, following industry standards and best practices, including Identity, Authentication and Authorisation.
• API Platform secure design best practices and industry standards
• API Platform tools, infrastructure, testing, CICD and automation of our assets
• API consultancy and solution design
• Release Management, Compliance and Support of our production and non-production platforms

Key Capabilities

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology;
• Previous development experience with Axway API Gateway or similar product is essential for this role.
• Several years’ experience in:
  • Identity and API Security domain
  • Web-based Application & Enterprise Security
  • REST, SOAP, XML RPC type API concepts
  • Modernised Open Security Standards (OAuth, OpenID Connect, SCIM, ALFA etc)
  • Cloud and Infrastructure
• Experience in Secure Web Applications design with backend services such as API Gateway/Manager Platforms, Identity and Access Management Services, Network Security devices and protocol gateways
• Experience working with cloud based services (including SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and good understanding of security challenges involved in deploying to the Cloud
• Demonstrated consulting expertise in designing APIs and applying technical standards (e.g. OAuth) to enable and protect API access while meeting enterprise architecture, security, and privacy needs.
