We are looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a Government department for an initial 6 month contract. The Developer will be responsible for programming in Java and working on a key data integration project. The role involves a strong understanding of application development and design using Java and integration technologies however the role will also entail BAU development tasks.
The role is based in Redfern and you will be joining a well established team. Threw is also an opportunity to work from home throughout the term of the initial 6 month contract.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop, test and support a portfolio of components and services of an integrated timetabling IT solution
- Contribute to the architectural design of the solution above
- Conduct performance tuning of the components and services above
- Coordinate with other teams (middleware, Linux and QA) for BAU and development tasks
- Write and maintain documentation for technical artefacts
Essential Skills:
- 8 years' development experience in Java
- 5 years' development experience in Java EE including JMS, JPA, EJB, JDBC, JSF and JBoss EAP
- Solid SOA development experience in SOAP-based Web services, RESTful Web services and business processes
- Demonstrated data experience in Oracle RDBMS 12c, Microsoft SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL
- Demonstrated Java framework experience in Apache Camel, Spring Framework and Hibernate
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to design XML stylesheets (XSL), XML schemas (XSD), relational database schemas (SQL) and object oriented models (UML)
- Demonstrated ability to identify and apply design patterns in enterprise integration, Java EE and Java SE environments
- Experience in system integration testing and performance tuning of highly scalable software systems
- Experience working in a Unix environment
- Experience with integration tools such as Mulesoft (highly desirable)
