About the role:
You will be part of a global team that leverages, improves, designs, implements, and delivers end to end services to our customers. These services aim to automate application provisioning and manage the underlying Infrastructure as a Service, incorporating all layers: from compute through to storage and network.
You will help accelerate our Application teams’ ability to reliably and consistently deliver applications, by developing standardized automation to control, build, artifact, and deploy managed services.
You’ll work on:
- Change Management with your strong skills and knowledge of best practice processes.
- Helping with reviewing, approving and scheduling application related changes within our global environment.
- You will also contribute to Quality initiatives: develop and review procedures and tools to support monitoring, automation and coordination between global teams.
- Troubleshooting and resolving time and mission critical incidents and issues, as well as ensuring that incidents are kept to a minimum during the implementation of changes.
- Collaborating with Developers, Networkers, Systems, Storage and Database Administrators, and Project Managers on projects and providing technical support.
- Over time, you will build your knowledge in our global travel management applications, and become one of our subject matter experts as your role transitions into Service Reliability Engineer.
To be considered for this role, you’ll need:
- An Engineering degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science or related technical field;
- An understanding of Software Engineering methodologies and development cycles (Open Source development), including Version Control system (GIT and SubVersion) and Continuous Integration and testing methods (Jenkins);
- Good networking knowledge, including communication protocols, load balancing techniques, traffic routing, and caching for distributed applications;
- An understanding of monitoring tools and concepts (Kibana, ElasticSearch);
- Knowledge of Linux operating system administration (RHEL or SLES), relational DB (Oracle, MySQl, MariaDB) and noSQL technology (Cassandra, S3, HBase, Hadoop, MongoDB, CouchBase).
- Able to work on shifts including weekends
