I’m currently helping a super exciting predictive analytics & AI/ML Tech start-up hire x3 Fullstack Developers and build a brand new engineering & product team. They operate in a space that we’re super passionate about at affix – humans! Specifically, in the HR & recruitment space. Their product helps customers make faster, smarter and unbiased hiring decisions by harnessing data-driven not opinion-driven insights on what “success” looks like in a business– I told you it was all about the people, didn’t I?!

So, if they’re 3.5 years old, why are they building a new team?

Great question! To be honest, even though they’ve been around for 3.5 years, it’s only now that they’re starting to come to life! They’ve invested heavily in building a solid foundation and a core product that has a strong market fit. Now, it’s all about the customer; the user experience and getting the product out to new industries, new people and new markets globally!

Now for a slightly different direction than what you’re expecting:
  
We’re a start-up, so requirements can change on the drop of a dime. So, what I thought would be a good idea would be to shape out what the current technical & product roadmap looks like for you if you join as a Fullstack Developer, so you can get a ‘snapshot” of the situation:-

• Move from a monolithic code base (with a single data store) => To node.js driven micro-services with multiple data stores.
• Building brand-new CI pipelines for each micro-service
• Define how we run a 24/7 global SaaS application (cloud & app architecture)
• Working with internal AI/ML Team to optimise data modelling visibility
• Set up a progression rollout pipeline to MVT test new features

*** and that’s just the start! There’s heaps more goodness to get involved in!

What’s the Tech?
  
They choose the right tools for the job at hand. Currently, their code base is all JavaScript with Node.js, Restify/Express, React and Redux. So if you're awesome at JavaScript I 100% wanna' hear from you. Even if you've not done heaps in Node.js but you're looking to gain more exposure - I wanna hear from you. 

Similarly - if you're a Java, Ruby, Python, Go, Scala - damn anything type engineer - I wanna hear from you. Anyone can learn a language, we're more interested in the engineering mindset than syntactical sugar! 

To be successful in this Fullstack Developer role, you’ll need:

• Mad skills with a modern development language (see above)
• A deep interest in JavaScript and ideally good exposure to ES6,7,8
• Ability to articulate and promote varied Software Design Pattern
• An engineering toolkit that goes beyond just code. We need engineers that care about modern engineering principles like:

• TDD & Unit testing frameworks
• RESTful API Development
• CI/CD pipeline design and implementation
• Strong DevOps exposure

• An understanding of Security concerns around API development
• AWS Cloud experience
