Your role
The Software Platform Team Leader is responsible for leading the software platform team to achieve the objectives, deliverables and artefacts assigned by the Software Group Leader in collaboration with the global Platform Team. The Core platform is a global continuous integration development environment and hardened run-time environment for distributed, high-availability systems (such as the 9LV combat management system).

Key responsibilities of the role will include, but will not be limited to:

• Acting as the Saab Australia Product Owner for the platform, necessarily involving close collaboration with the global platform team
• Leading, coordinating and guiding the software platform team
• Reporting progress against agreed effort and schedule.
• Assessing technical, cost and schedule risk related to platform activities
• Participating in and presenting platform status at major project engineering reviews (e.g. PDR, CDR, and TRR) and progress review meetings
• Developing and maintaining a broad understanding of the operational use of the associated system under development and both implicit and explicit needs placed on the supporting software platform
• Actively leading and coordinating the software platform team and guiding their performance by setting goals and providing regular feedback
• Supporting the Integration and Project teams with the installation and maintenance of test sites and platform related questions and issue resolution
• Supporting Projects with negotiated studies and trade-offs in the platform area (as required)
• Supporting the infrastructure for efficient and effective software development, builds, integration, deployment and test

Your skills and experience

• Tertiary qualifications in systems engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline
• Demonstrated experience in the development and integration of large software projects
• Demonstrated understanding of the lifecycle of large software development projects
• Demonstrated experience/understanding of:
  • Virtualisation technologies (i.e. VMWare, Dockers, VirtualBox, NoMachine)
  • Linux operating systems
  • Cyber security
  • Atlassian Agile toolset
  • 9LV combat management system (desirable)
• Proven ability in internal and external customer liaison
• Experience in producing and reviewing technical documentation
• Proven scheduling and planning skills
