Senior IT Security Analyst
Location: Sydney
Our client, financial services client isl currently seeking an Security Analyst to join its Cyber Security Team. This is an exciting role to join a company currently undergoing major transformation, with a busy pipeline of projects in the next 12-24 months. You will form part of a new team tasked with protecting the organisation from threats and vulnerabilities and helping to ensure security is at the forefront of the organisation.
This role will ideally suit a candidate who has a good grounding in IT Security Operations e.g. a former SOC Analyst, but somebody who wants to take the next step beyond a purely operational role as this position not only involves assessing and monitoring risk, but following through with appropriate action on discovering risk. You will therefore need to be a strong communicator as you will be working closely with and advising the business.
Job Responsibilities:
- Perform technical analysis of vulnerabilities and associated exploits and create technical report concerning vulnerabilities along with PoC code.
- Share vulnerability intelligence including threat intelligence, security operations and risk management
- Be able to successfully partner with other security team members and vendors to assess potential impact from vulnerabilities
- Determine and suggest mitigating controls
- Stay on top of the vulnerability landscape and be up-to-date on current attacks or potential attacks
- Review and analyse vulnerabilities in order to determine and understand the nature of the threat to evaluate, rate and perform risk assessments
- Prioritizing vulnerabilities discovered along with remediation timeline(s)
- Send and receive notifications to the SMEs of vulnerabilities within the environment
- Maintain knowledge of the threat landscape
- Provide reporting and analysis and follow up
- Provide vulnerability analysis and produce reports for management
- Participate collecting, assessing, and cataloguing threat indicators
Skill Required:
- 3+ years’ experience in vulnerability management or related cyber security field
- Strong experience working in IT Security Operations
- IT Security Consulting experience desirable
- Knowledge of application, network and operating system security
- Knowledge with exploitation mitigation techniques
- Strong experience analysing exploits.
- Experience with vulnerability and patch assessment
- Good understanding of Windows and Linux OS and patching
- Strong familiarity with common vulnerability & exploit tracking/collaboration circles
- Ability to learn new technologies? Excellent writing and presentation skills are required in order to communicate findings and status
- Ability to clearly communicate priorities and escalation points/procedures to other team members
- Experience with IDS/IPS, Symantec experience would be desirable.
