Harvey Nash are working with a well-known Australian business to recruit an experienced software developer with a passion for data!  This role will be a unique opportunity for either an established BI Developer or an experienced Java developer to join a fast paced data solutions team!
Technology Stack:

• Java
• Big Query, GCP, AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, Cloudformation, Kinesis)
• IoT

Role and Responsibilities:

• You will be responsible for building high quality technical capabilities by working closely with technology partners.
• You will promote and create space for the adoption and development of good technical practices within the business
• You will partner with SMEs across different lines of business to develop a sound understanding of their business processes and data requirements
• You will create a focus on limiting work in progress to improve effectiveness and delivering faster to market solutions
• You will provide stable and operational digital platforms for the customer
• You will use root cause analysis techniques to understand the root cause of production incidents and evolve the product / platform proactively to avoid repeat issues.

  
You, as the ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technology / software engineering
• A minimum of four years as a software engineer passionate about data and data-driven insights
• Strong practical experience with object-oriented design, coding and automated testing and deployment (CICD) patterns as well as experience in engineering (commercial or open source) software platforms and large-scale distributed data infrastructures
• Extensive experience in different programming or scripting languages - Python and Java
• Experience with PaaS, IaaS and Serverless services. Prior experience with Big Query, GCP and AWS (EC2, ECS, S3, CloudFormation, Kinesis, IoT) desirable
• Demonstrable experience of working hands-on with structured, semi-structured and unstructured big data systems
• Significant knowledge of data modelling and understanding of different data structures and their benefits and limitations under particular use cases
• Experience with Agile or other rapid application development methods
