About the role

This role is based at our Network Operations Centre (NOC) which is the central point of network management for Broadcast Australia. This facility is located in Gore Hill and provides real-time monitoring of individual sites and the associated services for both analogue and digital broadcasting.

Managing more than 2,425 TV and radio services from over 622 unmanned sites around the country, the NOC is vital to ensure network longevity, service reliability and optimal operational performance in order to support the services of Broadcast Australia’s customers.

This role reports to the NOC Shift Leader and has primary responsibility for maintaining service availability for television and radio broadcast services. Remotely monitoring the BA network, you will identify fault types, implement corrective actions and ensure strict escalation procedures and protocol compliance.

Key responsibilities

  • Diagnose, resolve and log broadcast network faults;
  • Use network management systems to remotely reset/restore services;
  • Collaborate & liaise with field technicians to resolve any fault, client or service issues;
  • Network surveillance via alarm monitoring;
  • Liaising with the public to resolve reception complaints
  • Documenting fault updates and investigation findings for major network incidents and outages affecting the customer;
  • Process emergency outages; and
  • Timely and efficient dispatch and use of Field Staff and materials to maintain network availability targets.

Skills and experience

  • Trade qualification in Electronics and or Communications
  • Demonstrated experience gained from a broadcast telecommunications systems or background as technical support specialist in an operational environment; experience in managing telco networks will be considered
  • Excellent communication complemented with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Results driven, high attention to detail with the ability to work with a sense of urgency
  • Highly collaborative you thrive on working with team members, field staff and suppliers to resolve problems
