Reason for this role:
 
The purpose of this role is to lead a team of experienced solution architects and solution consultants to define/develop:

• IT Architecture policies and principles,
• Domain/reference architectures,
• Technology roadmaps,
• Solution architectures,
• IT Governance,
• IT Strategies

which aligns with Westpac’s strategic priorities and delivers towards Group Technology’s goals: Best in Class Operational Efficiency, Next Generation Customer Experience, ‘One Bank’ and Game-changing Technologists.
 
The role will provide thought leadership and drive innovation to maximise return on investment and accelerate the delivery of value to the business.
 
The role will work alongside Application Development Directors and divisional CIOs to ensure effective engagement of Group Technology teams and partners to deliver IT services and solutions to the business
 
 
Main Duties:
 
Solution Architecture:

• Accountable for the development, execution and maintenance of best practice Architecture and Design.
• Develop and influence relationships with key stakeholders including General Managers and Business Unit/Technology Group Executive to ensure appropriate stakeholders are effectively engaged in the formulation of Architecture direction.
• Provide expert technology advice and guidance to General Managers and Business Unit/Technology Group Executive to assist the business in the formulation of business strategy and technology investment decisions.

 
Solution Consulting:

• Lead the alignment of business investments to the agreed business value priorities, IT Strategy and Target Architecture to maximise long term benefits and achieve Group outcomes.
• Engage with business owners to understand their strategic priorities, value drivers and needs.
• Provide well-conceived, clearly articulated, pragmatic solutions and recommendations to complex business problems.
• Provide high end consulting services to senior stakeholders across the Westpac Group to ensure the delivery of strategic outcomes. Identify opportunities to resolve complex problems, deliver value, optimise benefits and reduce the cost base of the Bank.
• Accountable for ensuring the application of IT estimation standards for a portfolio/business unit to ensure effective IT estimation of technology solutions

 
People leadership and capability development:

• Lead, develop and grow a high performing team that are able to build trust with the business, deliver high quality services and effectively navigate through a changing environment.
• Develop a customer centric, progressive and ‘game changing’ culture.
• Provide mentoring and coaching, to ensure the leadership team is sufficiently equipped to deliver required services to the Westpac Group.
• Promote diversity within the team and actively support our Women in Leadership objectives.

 
 
Experience:

• 12+ years experience within the Technology Industry in Banking or in Management Consulting.
• 10+ years experience across multiple Architecture domains, including the implementation of Architecture in large organisations
• 5+ years project management and delivery experience utilising waterfall and agile delivery methodologies.
• 5+ years experience in people management and establishing high performing teams

 
Working Knowledge of:

• Process Design & Lean Methodology
• Information Systems Frameworks
• Data Management Frameworks
• PMBOK – Project Management
• Systems Development Methodologies – Agile, LD, JAD, RAD, Scrum, SDLC
