My client is a large Government Department based in Sydney's inner suburbs and currently has a requirement for a Project Manager to come on board for an initial 12 month period to assist in the delivery of a large applications based program which they are rolling out across the organisation. The key to this role is strong vendor management skills as this is a major component of this role and critical to it's success.
The successful incumbent will have excellent communication and time management skills along with a pragmatic approach to problem solving and the ability to work as part of a team.
Key requirements:
- Business focused senior PM able to manage application and business process projects from requirements to successful implementation
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Excellent, mature stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience in delivering IT / business transformation projects where standardisation and excellent results have been required and achieved
- Manage the planning and delivery of complex strategic projects, this must include delivery of software development
- Strong release management experience in complex technical environments across multiple test landscapes and phases (i.e. Solution Testing, Integration Testing, Performance testing, User Acceptance Testing and Regression Testing) and into production.
- Manage entire project teams to ensure that the project outcomes are achieved
- Develop and implement project management plans to ensure the success of the project
- Regularly communicate with key senior stakeholders to ensure the identification and tracking of project objectives
- Prepare and present project status reports and communicate project updates to inform decision making at the senior level
- Balance competing demands to ensure projects objectives are achieved
- Manage effective teams and relationships with diverse stakeholders including business and ITD
- Lead and facilitate productive discussions with all stakeholders
- Take responsibility for delivering on intended outcomes
- Monitor the completion of project milestones against goals and initiate amendments where necessary
- Responsible for the management of project finances including budget formation, forecasting and reporting up to 5 million dollars
- Actively identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies to program leadership
- Ensure solutions are aligned with Department architectural guidelines
- Demonstrated experience in managing external vendors
- Co-ordinate with business as usual teams to ensure the support model and process are well defined and that the solution is transitioned successfully
- Excellent presentation and communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint skills
- PRINCE2 Methodology certification or equivalent awareness/experience
Experience in delivering BOTH business and ICT projects, a technical background in IT especially software development, would be highly regarded.
