Senior Industrial Designer (New Product Development, Industrial Design)

Unique Engineering company, a market leader within their niche, they design, manufacture, supply and install their products globally.  Currently they employ 250 across Australia, recently they have experienced large growth in 2017 and 2018.  Offering excellent career progression, they are looking for an experienced Industrial Product Design Engineer.         

They are looking to hire a Senior Designer, someone that can support the business and lead both Industrial and Product Design from the front.  An individual with a unique creative side, craft-based industrial design focus, someone that can deliver and has experience leading the product development of consumer products would be the perfect match.  Applicants will have effective 3D conceptual design skills, excellent mechanical engineering aptitude, knowledge of materials; composites, plastics, steel and more.  The Industrial Product Designer will have experience making intuitive creative or calculated scientific decisions, developing designs, production processes, testing and business strategies.

Position would suit an Industrial Designer that’s developed medical device products, consumer products, portable media players, electro-mechanical products, electronic products.     

Key Responsibilities:

• Create and Execute Industrial & Product Design solutions – generally small-scale designs (hand held devices)
• New Product Development of electronic and electrical products (not designing motors, circuits etc) purely Industrial / Product design but be involved in usability design
• Drive and develop consumer products, stakeholder management
• Liaising with clients to produce a set of strategic and tactical activities from efficient and effective idea generation to commercialization
• To provide Technical Engineering and Project Management leadership for new and innovative Industrially Designed products   
• Be the connection between product, user, quality and environment teams
• Collaborate with marketing and sales reps to create a better product
• Manage Engineering solutions, lead innovation, product and application
• Design, product testing, support, project management and delivery
• Oversee and lead multi-discipline design projects, manage governance, collaborate with other design offices to assist with national and international projects
• Provide technical support, identify product risks / issues both locally and for regional operations  
• Driving safety, technical, budget and schedule outcomes during engineering

• Bachelor of Industrial / Product Engineering preferred
• Creative Industrial / Design mind
• Strong background with R&D
• Worked closely with manufacturing teams
• Extensive experience developing products (electronic / electro-mechanical)
• Sound understanding of materials, composites, steel, AS standards, welding and steel fabrication
• Excellent product, cost, commercialisation experience
• A recent portfolio

 
Salary:

Our client offers competitive remuneration packages, they vary with regards to experience, $100,000 to $110,000 packages.
