About the role
The Design Branch serves Development Victoria from within the Business Development team. We apply hands-on architecture and urban design services, strategic thinking and design direction to arrive at a solution that bridges purpose and construction, thus converting a problem into an opportunity.
This role will be responsible for providing leading urban design solutions, strategy and management for Development Victoria’s major precinct renewal projects and housing portfolio. As a leader in urban design, your broad spectrum of skills will be applied to deliver outstanding design solutions to support DV’s core objective to create spaces and homes that help make Victoria a great place to live.
Reporting to the Design Manager, key accountabilities include:
- Lead the urban design of major precinct and housing projects
- Provide in-house design solutions and objectives to build DV’s reputation in town house delivery in middle and outer suburbs
- Lead, coordinate, or inform the preparation of development plans, master plans and structure plans
- Promote the design services of DV through delivering consistent design excellence and client service
- Provide design services that support and advance DV’s policy pillars and distinct role in government
- Provide urban design services to develop new business feasibilities, master plans, schematic designs and strategic initiatives across multiple project sectors
- Identify opportunities to lead new projects / initiatives by drawing upon your expertise and ongoing personal development

About you
Ideally, you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in urban design, or related fields, and experience working in the public or private sector as a senior designer leading major master plans. With a background across large-scale urban renewal, townhouse developments and mixed-use projects, your broad industry experience and excellent stakeholder management skills, combined with your strong technical ability, will be essential in securing this opportunity.
