The Opportunity
Urbis have recently been engaged by JCDecaux Australia to undertake a large national project involving the introduction of a new form of advertising content. As a result of this exciting work, we are looking for a motivated and proactive Assistant Planner to join our city-shaping team and contribute to the design of a smarter city.

This unique opportunity will be dedicated to this specific project, and is anticipated to require an initial commitment of 6 months, working 3 days a week, although there is flexibility around the days of work.

About You
As an Assistant Planner, you will be play a key role by assisting the preparation of applications seeking consent for the change of content from Standard Telephone Service (STS) advertising, to allow third-party advertising on the facilities. This involves conducting site visits and drafting of reports that provide an assessment of the relevant planning considerations for the proposed third-party content in advance of the DA lodgements.

This role will suit a current Urban Planning student working towards the completion of their Bachelor or Masters degree, with a combination of the following competencies:

  • Strong organisation and project coordination skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • An enthusiastic and proactive attitude to learn
  • Ability to take initiative and work under minimal supervision
  • Sound knowledge of DA processes and legislative requirements 
  • Possession of a valid NSW Driver Licence is essential
  • Prior experience in a Town Planning firm would also be highly desirable, although not essential
