As part of providing planning and land development services, we require a Senior Town Planner/Land Development Consultant to join our Metropolitan team based in our Perth or Forrestdale office on a permanent basis.

Harley Dykstra is a multidisciplinary firm comprising town planners, land surveyors and project managers. Our approach is to provide a complete and integrated service that assists our clients through all phases of the land development process. Harley Dykstra has over 60 years of experience and operates offices in the South West, Great Southern and Metro area. Our clients include the major players in land development, infrastructure, building/construction and mining, as well as numerous smaller and valued clients. Our ethos is highly professional, forward-looking, team-oriented and family-friendly.

This position will be expected to manage a range of planning projects and applications from start to finish, and also be capable of helping us to maintain and build our client base in the metropolitan area.

This position will be fully supported by our complete planning team in delivering project outcomes to clients and would ideally suit a person who is land development focussed. We are seeking a candidate with a view to a long-term commitment and who also has a desire to be involved with the main leaders in the metropolitan area that influence land development.

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparation of structure plans and subdivision designs, including the coordination of all associated sub-consultant inputs and reporting, and following such plans through to approval;
• Design and preparation of a variety of development application types, including coordinating inputs from sub-consultants and following applications through to approval;
• Project manage the implementation of subdivision approvals;
• Work in a team with other planners and offer support and supervision where required; and
• Assist in winning new clients and projects for the company.

As the ideal candidate you will have:

• Minimum of five years’ experience with preferred consulting experience;
• A tertiary qualification in town planning or a related discipline;
• Previous experience in  areas of strategic and statutory land use planning;
• A solid knowledge of the Western Australian State and Local Planning Policies and Guidelines is desirable, or alternatively an ability to interpret and comprehend new legislation quickly;
• Initiative and self-motivation in seeking out new work and opportunities to help grow Harley Dykstra as a business;
• Good people skills with ability to relate to clients as well work effectively with other team members; and
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
