Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP) has been contracted by Melbourne Metro Rail Authority, on behalf of the Victorian Government, to design, build and maintain the stations and tunnels for the Metro Tunnel Project. CYP brings together three of Australia's leading construction partners, John Holland Lendlease and Bouygues Construction, that possess the world's best experience in tunnelling, engineering and construction.

This multi-Billion-dollar Metro Tunnel Project will untangle the City Loop by taking three of Melbourne’s busiest train lines through a new tunnel under the city. It will create a new end-to-end train line from Sunbury to Cranbourne/Pakenham, with twin nine-kilometre tunnels and five new underground stations at Arden (to be renamed North Melbourne), Parkville, Anzac, and two new CBD stations - State Library and Town Hall - which will directly connect to the City Loop.

We’re now recruiting for a Safety in Design (SiD) Coordinator who will play key role in contributing to the Safety in Design (SiD) scope of works for of this iconic Melbourne project.

As the SiD Coordinator you will be responsible for contributing to the Safety in Design (SiD) scope of works for Cross Yarra Partnership (CYP), as well as;

  • Contribution to SiD workshops across a wide range of engineering disciplines and work zones.
  • Contribute to the preparation and distribution of SiD workshop outputs, including SiD registers meeting minutes and additional materials as necessary to stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with CYP’s Design JV, Construction JV and Maintenance Team throughout the SiD process, including assisting in the identification of SiD issues/risks
  • Contribute to proactively ensuring SiD risks are addressed by CYP’s internal teams
  • Contribute to the provision of assurance that SiD risks have been managed and mitigated So Far As is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP)
  • Identifying and recommending changes to the system and work practices to improve quality and efficiency
  • Communication of local quality, environmental and OH&S system policies and processes
  • Engaging in Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
  • Ensuring familiarity and compliance with CYP’s Health and Safety regulations and guidelines

To be successful in this key role, you must be able to demonstrate current or prior experience with the following;

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, Engineering degree qualification preferable
  • 2 years minimum in a similar role with exposure to the rail and/or civil construction industry
  • Basic understanding of risk management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: Quality Certification, ISO 31000: Risk Management Standard and ISO45001: Occupational Health and Safety and Rail Safety National Law
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply HSE legislation including the relevant regulations and codes of practice
  • Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in management systems as well as a high level of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
