About the role
Our client, a well-known statutory authority, currently seeks an experienced Electronic Desktop Publishing Officer for an immediate start on a full-time 9 month fixed term contract operating within the Operational Training Department located in the northern Melbourne area. Within this role, you will be responsible for maximising the effectiveness of learning material and other publications through the use of innovative and contemporary design and desktop publishing.
Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and generating illustrations, graphics and diagrams using illustrations and publishing software, as well as scanning and manipulating digital image formats
- Preparing, maintaining and updating the organisation’s training resources to publication standards including maintaining version control, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and style guides for training
- Designing, developing and maintaining templates which are user friendly and fit for purpose for the development of training resources
- Liaising with external printing houses to ensure documentation that is produced meet the organisation’s requirements
- Proof read all publications produced by the Training Development department
Skills and Experience
The skills and experience you will need to demonstrate include:
- Demonstrable expertise with Microsoft Office suite and Desktop Publishing skills
- Previous experience in a similar role within a government, not for profit or corporate organisation
- Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal to effectively translate key outcomes from the organisation’s projects and initiatives into creative, dynamic and engaging communications material
- Ability to build excellent relationships with all levels of stakeholders both internal and external to the organisation
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (Technical Writing or Editing) or minimum of 3+ years in a relevant role
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is highly desirable
