About the role

The Volunteer Tutor Scheme Coordinator is responsible for the coordination of the Volunteer Tutor Scheme, including recruiting, training and supporting Volunteer Tutors and ensuring that the service provided to clients meets their needs and contract requirements. This is a part time position for 30 hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provision of a high-quality volunteer tutor service to AMEP clients
  • Recruitment, induction and training of tutors
  • Ongoing support to tutors and clients
  • Accurate record-keeping and reporting to meet contract compliance and KPIs related to service delivery and business requirements
  • Maintenance of educational, vocational and support service resources for the use of clients and tutors.

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrated knowledge of settlement and other community services in the region
  • Knowledge of the AMEP contract requirements and KPIs related to the Volunteer Tutor Scheme
  • Demonstrated high level of interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in a multi-cultural learning environment
  • Demonstrated awareness of a range of cultural perspectives and sensitive approaches relevant to our clients
  • Relevant experience/knowledge in using technology, including email, Microsoft Word, internet and databases

Desirable Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience teaching in AMEP or other language, literacy and numeracy programs
  • Prior use of government program student data bases
