Full time Mixed Crop Farmer

We are a Buddhist Religious Organisation located in regional Queensland.

We seek a qualified and full time mixed crop farmer to manage our Farms. 

Your duties and responsibilities includes:-

• Organising and coordinating the preparation of land for planting
• Planning and implementing on-farm strategies to deliver optimum returns
• Carrying out all farming activities, including selecting and purchasing of seeds, Chinese medicinal herbs, plants etc
• Carrying out all cropping operation including seeding, sowing, irrigation and pruning
• Managing and organising organic fertilisation of crop
• Carrying out regular pest and disease inspections
• Managing and carrying out the harvesting, grading and packing of all produce
• Maintaining crop health
• Training staff on organic farming practices and encouraging Buddhist belief and practises to be carried out at all times
• Foster a strong Health and Safety culture by ensuring WHS practices are implemented
• Ensuring appropriate maintenance of plant and equipment
• Keeping documentation and record up to date
• Working closely with Farm Manager in relation to PLLC’s requirement of particular crops and production

Suitable applicant must have:

• Strong knowledge in organic farming
• Strong knowledge in growing Chinese medicinal herbs and Asian vegetables
• Sound knowledge in operating Farm equipment and machineries
• Practicing Buddhist
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in farm operations
