Due to growth, our client, a successful Dairy business based in the Goulburn Valley is pleased to invite applications for Dairy Farm Managers to manage their large herd dairy farms.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Dairy Operations Manager you will primarily be responsible for managing all functions required for the day-to-day operations of the dairy farm. You will ensure that all activities are performed efficiently, to a high standard and compliant with all competencies regarding HR, safety, animal welfare, quality, environmental standards and risk management.
You will also be responsible for livestock management including welfare, animal husbandry, grazing management, breeding programs, nutritional and feeding associated tasks. Herd recording, milk routine, and milk quality.
Additionally, you will be required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff, contractors, agronomist, nutritionist and local supply businesses. Lead, manage and develop staff in line with company HR policies. Plan, review and report farm budgets and targets.
Manage the maintenance program for all machinery and equipment, including fencing, irrigation, pumps and stock water, buildings and shedding.
Essential Attributes and Skills
- Extensive farm knowledge incl. nutritional requirements of dairy cattle.
- Demonstrated experience with budgets and HR (staff and safety) management.
- Welding, mechanical, plumbing and fencing skills.
- Show initiative with the ability to problem solve on a daily and seasonal basis.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry organisations.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to liaise with a wide range of people/stakeholders at all levels.
- Work collaboratively, lead and motivate staff in a harmonious team environment.
- Be focused on improving quality and business outcomes.
Qualification and other Requirements
- A current, valid Driver Licence
- MR or HR Truck Licence highly regarded
- Computer skills incl. MS Word & Excel
- Advanced communication and writing skills
Qualifications in Agriculture or a Diploma in Dairy Nutrition or Agronomy advantageous.
