An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos, one of Australia’s leading children’s charities. Barnardos Australia builds relationships between children, young people, their families and the community. They advocate for children and young people and contribute to community knowledge about their issue.
The Role
Barnardos are looking for a full time, permanent Aboriginal Program Manager (OOHC) based in Orange, Western NSW. The purpose of this role is to provide day to day management and oversight of the operations, human resources management and administration of the Yuranha Walan Aboriginal OOHC Program based in Orange and the surrounding areas.
The program supports Aboriginal children placed with statutory kinship and foster carers
The Candidate
This position is Aboriginal identified. To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the role be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
The successful Aboriginal Program Manager will have:
have:
- Minimum Diploma /Bachelor Degree in Social Welfare or related human services field
- Minimum 3-5 years case management practice in related welfare field Experience, knowledge and understanding of working with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff, community and client families
- Demonstrated leadership and management experience
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of current legislation and practices in NSW child protection and OOHC
- High level communication skills including written, verbal, interpersonal, negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and effective strategies to redress the disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal children, their families and communities.
To be considered for roles with Barnardos you will need to have (or be willing to have conducted) a National Police Clearance, current Working with Children check Clearance (or APP number).
You must also have a current NSW unrestricted Class C drivers license.
Salary
$88 422 – $94 298 base base (including FBT packaging) + benefits + Super. Motor Vehicle packaging is optional.
