Environment Support Officer

Temporary Position (until April, 2019), Part - Time, 42 hours per fortnight

Salary Range = 60,550.43 - 72,505.80/- per annum on pro rata basis (subject to skills and experience)

The Business Unit

The Natural Environment & Climate Change (NECC) Group manages complex environmental and engineering programs and projects to achieve quality outcomes for the residents and environment of the Northern Beaches. The Natural Environment & Climate Change Business Group delivers the strategic and operational management of:

  • Bushland protection and restoration including threatened species and pest species management and the control of bushfire risk
  • Catchment, waterway and coastal management including ecological, risk and restoration programs
  • Strategic environmental systems & programs, development assessment, climate change adaptation/resilience and corporate sustainability
  • Environmental education, volunteering and engagement
  • Development engineering including subdivision works, development approvals and certification
  • Stormwater asset maintenance and renewal
  • Floodplain risk management

The Role and Responsibilities

The role of the Environment Support Officer is to provide professional administrative coordination and support to the Environment Resilience and Climate Change Team and the teams within the broader Group.  The officer will provide support to deliver the Group’s development assessment and customer request service targets.  The Officer will manage work packages and processes to provide the highest level of customer service while meeting workload demands of the position.  The Officer must be able to adapt to a variety of work types and balance competing priorities.

  • To ensure an effective, efficient and appropriate service is provided to the organisation.
  • Provide administrative support including assistance with managing purchase orders, document control, customer request and application management for the Team and Group.
  • Assist others in the use of Council’s systems including Technology One, HPE CM, Council’s eServices and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Selection Criteria

  • Experience in the provision of professional administration services combined with appropriate skills and/or qualifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining administrative systems and procedures.
  • Excellent planning, organisation and time management abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to show initiative and work within an environment of frequent interruptions and conflicting priorities, including a flexible work ethic to meet varying work demands of team and service unit.
