AVI supports the implementation of the Australian Volunteer Program (AVP) on behalf of the Australian Government. The program sends Australian volunteers on assignments overseas that are designed to sustainably build the capacity of people, organisations, communities and institutions. Through meaningful volunteer assignments, the Program creates enduring links between Australians and people and organisations in partner countries.
The position of Operations Manager will lead and manage the delivery of operational services to support the operational objectives for the Australian Volunteers Program. The Operations Manager will manage and support the Operations team which comprises of Finance, IT, and HR, as well take lead role in managing procurement and commercial contracts for the program.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and or equivalent demonstrated work experience in a similar role

Successful track record of strategic planning, operational management, financial management and analytical thinking and decision making

Knowledge and experience managing an operations team consisting of different disciplines including IT, HR and Finance.

Experience working on a DFAT funded project in a senior role is essential.

Demonstrated experience with mandatory compliance regarding Commonwealth Procurement Rules as well as building the capacity of Australian and overseas based staff through training, mentoring and communications.

Experience establishing and managing procurement services, including sourcing strategy, supplier selection and evaluation.

Successful track record of stakeholder management, including the negotiation and management of commercial contracts and service agreements
