Position:              Community Development Coordinator

Employer:           Mount Gravatt Community Centre Inc.

Status:                 Part-time 28hrs per week with the possibility of increasing to full time.  Initial 12 month fixed term contract with a view to permanency

Award/Level:      Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award 2010 and relevant transitional arrangements (TPEO “State Rates”). Level based on applicant’s skills and experience.

2. THE POSITION

The Community Development Coordinator will focus on coordinating the delivery of MGCCI Neighbourhood Centre Program/Activities. The position involves overseeing day-to-day operations, staff and volunteer coordination across a model of integrated service delivery.  

3.  KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS

  • Implement a regular program of activities, events and resources that increase community members’ ability to both access support services and participate positively in community life.
  • Monitor and deliver agreed program/project outcomes/milestones and report regularly to funders/ stakeholders, ensuring quality and impact is measured appropriately.
  • Consult regularly with clients and respond to the diverse and changing needs of our local community by creating appropriate events and services.
  • Manage events that are relevant and in line with MGCCI’s Strategic Plan.
  • Recruit, induct, train, supervise and retain staff/volunteers to assist with activities, projects and overall centre operations.

4. KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Qualifications in Community Development; Human Services, Social Work and/or behavioural/social sciences and minimum of three years relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of community services and neighbourhood centre model.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating projects and events.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects within timeframes and budgets.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills with an ability to interact and communicate with all levels of staff, suppliers, public and government bodies.
  • Demonstrated organisational and supervisory skills and demonstrated ability to work unsupervised, demonstrating use of initiative and strong program commitment along with highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • A current Blue Card or willingness to obtain
  • Qld Driver's Licence
