CORE Community Services (CCS) - we are a not-for-profit community organisation which has been operating in South West Sydney for almost 40 years. We deliver a wide range of services, activities and programs across five key service areas - Children's Services, Youth Services, Multicultural Communities, Aged and Disability Care and Community Engagement.

This is an Aboriginal Identified position to assist Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients. It will provide early intervention services to support young people predominately in the age range of 12-18, who have complex needs, who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the South West Sydney Area District.

The Position will provide these services in client's own environments, to improve their access to homelessness services and support initiatives, education and training, living skills training and links to broader health and mental health, welfare, child protection and alcohol and other drug services.

To achieve these outcomes, the Position will liaise with, and coordinate support from, agencies that offer relevant services to the client group and their families/care givers.

This position will provide flexible, specialist services that align with principles of self-determination and meet the needs of this vulnerable target group. The position will be required to work as part of a large team and also, at times independently.

The position will function under the supervision of the Early Intervention Team Leader.

Selection Criteria:

  • Formal qualifications and relevant experience within the community sector 
  • Aboriginality (under section 14(d) of the NSW Anti-Discrimination Act 1977)
  • Proven experience working with young people at risk with complex needs; and an understanding of early intervention and prevention models
  • Experience in all aspects of case management and case plans
  • Well-developed interpersonal and conflict management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of child protection issues and mandatory reporting
  • Sound interpersonal, communication skills and high level of computer literacy
  • Demonstrated competence in community liaison and community capacity building; working with a range of appropriate professionals in youth related services
  • Ability to meet deadlines, manage competing priorities and tasks
