The Out of Home Care Programme at Parkerville Children and Youth Care (Inc) provides a holistic, multi-disciplinary and therapeutic care service for vulnerable children. Our aim, as a team of committed staff, is to bring healing and growth to the lives of vulnerable children.
We are seeking experienced Professional Therapeutic Carers to provide therapeutic care to children who have experienced trauma from abuse. The position would ideally suit couples who do not have children who live at home, but appropriately qualified single people should also apply. Applications are particularly encouraged from Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people.
This is a live-in role, working on an 11 days on and 3 days off roster. You will work and live in a residential setting and play a pivotal role in the day to day life of the children in your care by providing support and care to guarantee a positive, homely environment. This will involve everyday tasks such as preparing meals, arranging clothing/laundry, driving to/from school and out of school activities, watching the children play sport and ensuring their home is clean and tidy.
To be considered, you must have experience either in or relevant to this type of role and be able to genuinely demonstrate empathy, guidance, respect and patience at all times. It is imperative you are able to work with minimum supervision and be highly self-motivated in this demanding yet rewarding role.
