The Position
St John of God Accord is a division of St John of God Health Care dedicated to providing support to people with intellectual disabilities. The overall aim is to enhance the quality of life for clients through the development and provision of support options that are aligned to the personal ambition and need of each client.
We currently have a number of Casual opportunities available for enthusiastic and motivated Community Support Workers to join our Individualised Services teams located in the Eastern Regions of Melbourne. Applicants must be available to work across 7 days of the week, between the hours of 7am – 10pm.
The successful applicants will have flexibility to support people with a range of needs to participate in their choice of activities within their local community and well as ACES. Applicants must be open to using their own vehicle to transport clients and must be comfortable and open to working independently with clients with behaviors of concern.
The successful candidate will have:
- Ability to work within and contribute to the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.
- The right attitude to support people with a disability.
- Ability to liaise with families and circles of support, service providers and community groups as required in order to promote community understanding and awareness of people who have a disability.
- Ability to multitask and work under pressure whilst remaining professional.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to use initiative and exercise reasonable judgement.
- Capability to work independently with an individual or group of people supported.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software packages and databases.
- Previous experience with complex clients.
