About the Role

  • Work with young people and their support networks in the AOD/MH Outreach Program to create personal support plans.
  • Provide youth work support via assertive outreach to young people in community and school based setting
  • Create and maintain individualised client files, ensuring that all documents are completed and records are detailed, accurate and factual.
  • Contribute to the planning, content and delivery of group work in school settings, and education/information sessions for families, community groups, partner agencies and stakeholders
  • Provide the Outreach team, young people & their families/carers, community stakeholders with guidance to ensure young people receive safe and culturally appropriate support
  • Assist and encourage clients to develop knowledge & skills necessary to achieve their harm reduction and recovery related goals including strengthened cultural connection, skills in self management, behaviour change, self esteem, financial management and personal development for example

Experience

  • Qualifications and/or experience working with at-risk young people using culturally safe and inclusive practice
  • Working knowledge of adolescent AOD and MH issues
  • Valid driver’s licence
  • Senior First Aid certificate or willingness to obtain
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Knowledge of case management
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work from a culturally informed and strengths based framework.
  • Good conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to travel and provide outreach to young people in school and community settings.
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of duty of care

As part of our Employment screening process you will be required to undertake a National Criminal History Check.
