About the role

This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in the lives of people who live with a severe and persistent mental illness as a part of our Strong Mob program. The successful candidate will be part of a team who provide community support to people and their carers to assist them in experiencing improved social and emotional well being and quality of life.

The Strong Mob Program provides Group Activities, Personal Support, and Family Support to people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander background.

The roster for this Cairns based position is approx. 25 hours per week, Monday to Thursday only.

  
Key Responsibilities

  • Assistance with daily living (including shopping, social support, appointments etc.)
  • Provide active individualised & group support
  • Provide community access & transport
  • Maintain & monitor person centred plans
  • Documenting & progress note keeping
  
Skills & Experience
  • Unrestricted Australian Drivers Licence
  • Certificate III in Mental Health, Community Services or similar (or willingness to obtain)
  • Current Provide First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Passionate about providing Person-Centred and Active Support
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check.
