Your Role

The IMPACT program is an immersive, engaging and culturally safe experience, designed to strengthen young Indigenous student's ability to lead change in their communities and pursuing future pathways into work, study and social action. IMPACT works with students from Year 9 to Year 12 across the Kimberley Region and Northern Territory

The Project Coordinator will have the important role of working autonomously in Broome, primarily on IMPACT WA as well as supporting the design and delivery of IMPACT NT. This will include leading program design, delivery, facilitation and coordination of the IMPACT Program. The person in this role will also be responsible for community engagement, as well as training and supporting visiting staff in the region. The Project Coordinator will work alongside staff in Broome and Darwin and the national office in Melbourne.

The Project Coordinator will also be involved in developing and delivering new programmatic demonstrations that support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander young people. The role will require working and developing relationships with multiple stakeholders including schools, youth organisations, partners, communities, Indigenous young people and the broader FYA team

Some of the key tasks and responsibilities;

  • Coordinate the IMPACT WA program with the support of the General Manager of Indigenous Engagement, using existing program framework and support the design and development of workshops and learning tools with a strong focus on diversity and inclusion
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with program stakeholders, including but not limited to students, parents/caregivers, schools community organisations. This would include engaging schools as well as collaborating with community organisations in the Kimberley region and across the country
  • Facilitation of workshops including coordination and supervision of students on IMPACT program activities (including residential camps)
  • Day to day operations of the IMPACT program including project management, facilitation, communications, administration, record keeping and other tasks as appropriate
  • Coordinating travel, venues and logistics for program activities including residential camps
  • Key organisational and support tasks to assist successful running of program activities and camps

About you

  • Proven experience in a similar role with experience in developing and delivery of programs for Indigenous young people
  • Relevant Tertiary level qualification (highly desirable) from the fields of education, the creative industries/arts, social sciences, business, project management, law or related discipline will be well regarded.
  • Strong personal presence, confidence and self-assurance, along with relationship management skills and the ability to engage, influence and negotiate will be required for this role.
