About this opportunity
Under the support and direction of the Advocacy and Community Education Manager, the Community Organiser will be working closely with the Consultant- Advocacy and Leadership, and the Communications, Marketing and Fundraising teams in contributing to the development and implementation of grassroots campaigns and organising strategies in line with Wellways advocacy strategy and strategic plan. The incumbent will be responsible for meaningful involvement of community supporters in grassroots advocacy campaigns, forums and consultations.
This role forms part of the Quality and Service Development (Q&SD) team. This is a part time role (0.6) for an experienced professional having a strong understanding or proven track record of working in advocacy, community organising and campaigning, ideally in a not-for-profit environment or with a community based organisation.
About you
As the ideal candidate you will possess the following:
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in advocacy, community organising and campaigning
- Ability to engage and develop relationships with activated community members and local networks
- Knowledge and understanding of grassroots campaigning
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills;
- Experience in recruiting, training and managing volunteers/ community supporters
- Strong training and facilitation skills
- Satisfactory, current National Police Check and Working with Children Check (or willing to obtain prior to commencement)
The successful applicant will have a good grasp of using effective digital communications methods with excellent ability to problem-solve and provide innovative solutions.
