The Normanton Recovery and Community Wellbeing Service (NRCWS) is expanding and we are seeking a Wellbeing Coordinator to assist with the planning, coordination and leadership of our team.

ABOUT US:

The Normanton Recovery and Community Wellbeing Service (NRCWS) is a residential drug and alcohol recovery service, specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

The service aims to assist those affected by drugs and/or alcohol to recover in a culturally appropriate way, return to their communities and have the skills to be able to contribute positively to their family and community. It supports the social and emotional wellbeing of clients and their families by providing a holistic service, centred on the individual's needs.

Gidgee Healing is the sole agency delivering this service though does so in partnership with community based services in a collaborative, best practice approach to residential recovery.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE (desirable):

  • Experience in planning, developing and managing contemporary, holistic and culturally-appropriate social and emotional wellbeing services;
  • High level awareness of the health issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in rural and remote locations; particularly as they relate to drug and alcohol misuse;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, foster collaboration and integration, and motivate a team in a multi-disciplinary setting, while ensuring commitment and adherence to the principles of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS);
  • Experience in facilitating collaboration across agencies (government, non-government & local), including the ability to establish respectful and trusting relationships with the community.
