Community Engagement Officer – Suicide Prevention

 

Lifeline is seeking to employ a Community Engagement Officer – Suicide Prevention, located in South West Victoria.

This position will be a 12-month contract – 3 days per week, based in Warrnambool.

About the position:

The Community Engagement Officer will focus strongly on building collaborative relationships and partnerships that support the needs of those at risk of suicide and those impacted by suicide across the Great South Coast region.

Fight for your Life (FFYL), formerly the Great South Coast Suicide Prevention Strategy, was established in 2013, after it was identified that there was not an integrated system of support for anybody affected by suicide and between agencies there was limited awareness of service capacity around suicide in the Great South Coast. 

The Engagement Officer is responsible for meeting the objectives of the FFYL Strategic Plan, deploying resources, monitoring and reporting on progress against performance indicators and meeting timelines as indicated.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience and relevant qualification in Social Service, Health Promotion related discipline.
  • Understanding of contemporary issues around Suicide Prevention services.
  • Sound understanding of collective impact principles and the issues impacting on regional communities.
  • Proven ability to lead, facilitate, and motivate a diverse range of stakeholders to achieve the key deliverables and position level outcomes.
  • High-level research skills with demonstrated ability to analyse data and provide evidence-based recommendations.
  • Demonstrated success in building and maintaining collaborative partnerships.
  • Established service and business networks.
  • Previous work history reflects high level communication skills.
  • Experience and confidence in delivering presentations.
  • Previous work history reflects high level organisational skills.
  • Proven success in project management.
  • Current Australian ‘C’ Class Driver’s License.

This position is part-time – worked between Monday and Friday.

The successful candidate may be required to satisfactorily undergo a pre-employment Medical Assessment where applicable and agree to a National Criminal History Record Check.
