Goldfields Team Leader - Mental Health 12 Month Contract with potential 2 year extension.

This position requires relocation to Kalgoorlie Western Australia $1000 relocation payment will be offered to the successful applicant. 

Centrecare in partnership with Goldfields Women's Health Care Centre have been successfully delivering integrated primary mental health services - Goldfields Mental Health Portal in the Goldfields region from 1 July 2017. Under the Integrated Primary Mental Health Care Model this program will focus and deliver quality mental health and wellbeing services for disadvantaged, vulnerable or hard to reach individuals who have, or at risk of mental health condition throughout the Goldfields region.

Covering the Goldfields region this position will deliver place-based low intensity support and psychological interventions to clients. Working within the WA Primary Health Alliance Stepped Care approach, The Clinical Lead will match client needs to the level of intervention required.

As Team Leader, you will be responsible for utilising your Mental Health experience to support your team achieving the highest quality, clinical outcomes and operational efficiencies. You will provide real-time clinical support and assistance to the Mental Health Professionals and Counsellors in your team as well as coaching and supporting new staff joining your team.

Specific responsibilities 

  • Coordinates Intake, screen and assessments of programs, prospective clients in consultation with the  Executive Manager. 
  • Undertake management supervision and monthly clinical group supervision with staff working within these services.
  • Conduct assessments and complete safety  plans with clients and allocated workers as required.
  • Follow specific guidelines, policies and procedures as stipulated in the WA Primary Health Alliance contractual obligations.
  • Ensure that all required administration in relation to all intakes and other programs is completed as per Centrecare QA processes.
  • Facilitate team meetings within allocated program areas.
  • Ability to go on regular outreach trips across the region and work Saturdays. 

Selection Criteria

  • A tertiary or post-graduate degree (of minimum three years duration) in a relevant discipline in nursing, Social Work or equivalent, Mental Health Nursing or Aboriginal Health Work.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a mental health related service.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding around working with vulnerable, disadvantaged and complex needs clients.
  • In depth experience and/or understanding of working with remote Aboriginal communities and their unique needs.
  • Experience of leading geographically dispersed teams.
  • Worked in a supervisory / leadership position, preferably in a Mental Health /Clinical setting;
  • High level of communication skills and ability to network with a range of key stakeholders, particularly GPs and Primary Health Care Clinicians.
