This new role reports to the Manager Arts, Culture & Recreation within the Community Wellbeing Directorate. It provides an exiting opportunity to support the fresh direction of the organisation and the enhancement and development of its many recreational assets.
This position plays a key role in the identification, planning and delivery of recreation and open space services, assets, programs and projects to support the reputation of the municipality as a desirable place to live and work.
Key objectives of this role:
- Lead the Recreation & Open Space team of staff
- Develop comprehensive strategic programs and policies for the development, delivery and management of recreation services and assets, in conjunction with the Recreation & Open Space Planning Unit staff, the community and relevant other staff
- Undertake and oversee a program of effective consultation to ensure appropriate community engagement in the asset planning and delivery process
- Support the identification of funding sources and applications for funding, and ensure that all requirements in relation to grant expenditure and service agreements are met
The ideal applicant will have relevant degree or diploma qualification with several years of subsequent experience in co-ordinating and leading a team of staff in a relevant field, along with excellent communication skills, well-developed community consultation and engagement skills and experience. An understanding is required of long term HRCC recreation and open space goals, values and aspirations and of the legal and political context in which the HRCC operates.
