Your new role

An exciting opportunity exists for two full time Victim Support Worker positions in a dynamic organisation that provides a range of services to clients. Merri Health is a provider of the Victims Assistance Program (VAP) in the Northern Metropolitan Region since 1999 and has grown and developed into the well-established program that it is today.

VAP support includes intake, support work and counselling. Merri Health is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Victims Support Worker to join our growing team; which is funded by the Department of Justice and Regulation.

The VAP office is based in Preston, with direct service provided to clients and organisations at other locations across the Northern Metropolitan region.

As part of the Victim Assistance Program team at Merri Health, your main responsibilities will include:

  • Provision of intake, information and referral services for the Northern Metropolitan Region VAP
  • Carrying a case load, as directed
  • Provision of some practical support and casework including: support assessment, case plan development, advocacy, education, referral and allocation of brokerage funds
  • Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Developing strong relationships with Victoria Police via co-location

This is a full time role offered on an fixed term (30/06/2020) basis. You will be based in Preston. In order to be considered for this position you must have the right to work in Australia.

  • Highly developed interpersonal, oral, written skills
