Purpose of the role
The City Life directorate delivers personalised and public services to enhance community life, including family, aged, leisure and cultural services.
The role is responsible for the provision of strategic advice and guidance to all areas of Council in the development of high quality community engagement initiatives. Projects can be complex and include some that are both high profile and high impact.
This role is responsible for developing and implementing a best practice engagement framework including guidance to all business units at Council. You will be able to motivate and lead staff from different backgrounds to embed a culture of great community consultation.
You will be comfortable in a digital environment effectively using an online platform while able to adapt to face to face strategies when appropriate. You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to strategize and problem solve with complex and sometimes high profile projects.
Key Relationships
To be successful you will have experience working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to quickly identify their requirements. You will enjoy being autonomous and have demonstrated ability to lead a professional team to deliver high quality projects within expected outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver a best practice Community Engagement Strategy and Framework that ensures the community can participate in planning and decision making in projects which affect their local area.
- Motivate and lead staff from other parts of Council to embed and organisational culture of best practice community engagement.
- Identify and resolve issues to ensure delivery of timely and high quality online and face to face community engagement services
Essential Requirements
- Preferred requirements: IAP2 Certificate or willingness to undertake
- Tertiary or other qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Current Drivers Licence Class C.
