About the Preparatory Stretch Coordinator
The Preparatory School STRETCH Coordinator develops, coordinates and administers processes for identifying and supporting the learning of students whose learning needs cannot be accommodated solely through regular class programs, including gifted and talented students. The Preparatory School STRETCH Coordinator teaches students in the STRETCH program, and performs other duties common to all Westminster School Preparatory School teachers. The Preparatory School STRETCH Coordinator reports to the Head of Preparatory School and oversees the work of STRETCH teachers, visiting special needs specialists and Learning Support Assistants assigned as direct reports.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop and coordinate processes for identifying and prioritising students with additional learning needs
- Support classroom teachers to identify students with learning difficulties and highly able students
- Plan, coordinate, support and continuously improve programs and approaches to maximise learning outcomes for STRETCH students
- Coordinating the development of learning management plans and curriculum modification plans for students with individual learning needs
- Provide direct teaching and remediation to students as part of the STRETCH program
- Report and communicate student progress to teachers, parents and students on an informal basis
- Identify, gather and allocate resources for teachers, students and parents to support the learning of STRETCH students with particular needs
- Perform administrative and liaison tasks associated with the STRETCH program and STRETCH students
Key Selection Criteria: Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Demonstrated passion for, and experience in, teaching Primary students
- Have the ability to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate differentiated teaching programs for students from ELC to Year 7
- Previous experience in and demonstrated understanding of additional education needs and Learning Difficulties / Disabilities
- Have the capacity to improve outcomes through intervention with students individually or small groups.
- Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme and relevant Government funding availability
- Experience in preparing and monitoring a budget
- Innovative and exemplary classroom practitioner with a proven record of student outcomes
- High level of ICT skills, knowledge and effective incorporation into classroom practice, including 1:1 laptop program
- The capacity to cater for students with a range of abilities and learning styles within the classroom and to monitor, and respond to, student progress.
- The capability to work co-operatively with students, staff and parents to produce the best learning outcomes for students.

Conditions of Employment
Applicants must have or be able to obtain registration with Teachers Registrations Board of South Australia, Responding to Abuse and Neglect and Senior or Provide First Aid certification.
